First of all, I would once again like to thank our admin team and the users for their continued dedication to this site, despite the general slowness and my somewhat ..lacking.. presence.I wish I was more active in the community, in irc and what-not, but I'm just a very reserved person and can't really bring myself to do it. But despite this, know that I'll always be around if I'm needed. Anyhow, enough of that. It has been a whole year since the founding of this site! This is an exciting time, for even though the website has had its hurdles and the posting remains generally slow, it has still managed to stay alive. Hopefully with the eventual DVD release of the movie and lots of new content to discuss, things will speed up again. As for the future of the website, I will continue to pay for it unless interest completely dies out (0 posts for months), which hopefully won't be for several years. When it comes to various improvements and overhauls of the site, I'm kind of ashamed of myself for not putting more work into it. I still have a list of features and what-not that I want to add, but a lack of real skill and various "IRL" problems have cut down my motivation a bit. The things that are still planned:Actual front page.New forum software. (Although I've grown fond of this one)Miscellaneous features and improvements. There is also the possibility of oekaki being merged with /sw/ in order to speed things up a bit. If things get REALLY bad, off topic may be merged as well as a last ditch emergency move. But I wouldn't worry about that right now. In closing, Happy Birthday Helma.us! And may the next year be even brighter!
Also, sorry if my post is a bit less coherent than usual, I'm pretty tired.
Thanks for keeping Helma.us up and running!
Yay! Also, thanks for the site and stuff.
Thank you for all of your hard work!
Happy birthday helma~also in the updates, maybe the secret board can become not-so-secret anymore?
Better suggestions: Delete the secret board and call it a day.
fuck that the secret board is precious and must be defended at all costs
>>3874I agree with this poster. but the secret board that isn't very secret at all is at its best off the menu.also, happy 1-year anniversary.
>>3873I agree with this poster. Most of the images on the secret board are already hosted elsewhere.
Thanks guys! >>3871Thanks, and great picture!>>3872>>3873>>3874>>3875>>3877For now, I'm going to keep /nsfw/ "hidden". I have considered axing it completely though, as some of the threads there, and the general nature of the shows cast, are making me concerned about possible "legal" problems, even if it's unlikely.
Thank you very, very much!
Here's something a friend made.
Thank you and many happy returns!
>>3878the board ends in .us so its under US jurisdiction. The supreme court has repeatedly stated that the kind of stuff on that board is protected by the first amendment.
>>3886America doesn't own the net, faggot. Besides, if that worked, everyone would be running websites out of the Philippines or Norway.
>>3896But...but...what about my freedom?
>>3886Yes, I'm aware. But I seem to recall several nonsense prosecutions happening anyhow regarding similar things, even if the charges had no legal basis. I'm still not going to change anything though.>>3896To be fair, I do live in the US. So he's right.
As long as the Strike Witches franchise is alive. I think this place would keep on going.Happy cakes, ether fuel and the scent of Gertrude's dress for Helma!
>>3896since it runs the DNS servers, yes, it very much does own the net. but that's not relevant here. point is, the rules of whatever country owns the right to issue the suffix, in this case-.us, is part of the equation, but also where the servers are located. websites only have to follow the rules of whatever country they are based in, though posters have to follow their own countries rules. since the website is based in the US, other countries can't do shit about content they don't like, not that it really matters for something this small.this is why pirate bay is trying to put their servers in space.
>>3931>this is why pirate bay is trying to put their servers in space. This would be awesome, since they could totally call themselves space pirates.
>>3910What?Good job ruining a perfectly good character. Why on earth would you associate fanwank with a "joyous" occasion?
>>3960Relax..
>>3960Here I am actually cheering for the board with just a light joke and you come here ranting about fanwank. I guess you're just being too uptight and can't take a joke either.
>>3965It's not a joke if it isn't funny.
