That aside, how did everyone feel about episode one? I gotta admit, I really enjoyed it, even though I wasn't too crazy about the newly introduced witches prior to viewing. I loved how they showed the witches' training and the sisters were enjoyable to watch even if Hikari is somewhat generic.
The 3DCG is still cringey to see, though. Based off of this ep it seems for the action scenes they're going to go full 3D, or at least close to it. Hopefully they still traditionally animate some parts.
All in all, I'm satisfied thus far. Can't wait to see the 502nd soon.

Sasebo was very pretty. Shame we probably won't see much of it from now on.

Hikari's father is actually alive in this one, so at the very least she's got that going for her.

Smug. Hope she appears again at some point.

It was enjoyable episode all in all. If you love witches you just love them on screen. If I were to be more critical cynical like I'm with movies and other media then the episode and the season doesn't look that 'promising' with how new characters are hogging time, etc. complaints.
Also the cgi definitely is worse off than in previous installments save for S1 with how it's done and used. It's especially bad in the OP, which shouldn't be a thing.
But despite all that small rant, love is love.

I also hope that the amazing backgrounds and such aren't just pilot episode eye candy. They were really nice in the episode and hopefully remain consistent at least.

She definitely hasn't appeared anywhere before, making her anime original. Now whether she has archetype or not remains a question.

I enjoyed it though it was mostly what I expected in terms of setup. I love that it was set in a witch academy. Hikari is a total cutie, I like her motivation. I hope they were hinting at a more overarching plot at the end. Would be a nice change from the episodic SW.

Brave Witches, so far, feels much more like it has an idea of what it wants to be. It's more focused, and has introduced a main character that's both less grating and has hinted at a proper character arc. It's still a little silly, but much less than the absurdity the original had. I'm...actually looking forward to watching more.

I have a tiny reservation on the CG part but it's a very good first episode. I'm sure Takami got tons of new admirers after that scar scene.

In that regard I've been trying to have more European friendly times given I'm one myself, and have one around comfortable time for us, which is why if you're interested, every Wednesday on 21:00 UTC+0 (13:00 PST) I'll be streaming the new episode.
Still unsure if I should hold on Saturday night as well since it's fun to watch it multiple times too but there hasn't been much demand for that so I'll refrain from that.

Takami seems alright I guess. Hikari's all over the place to me. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I'm never one to hard judge dubs without actually listening to them. Especially since I did watch SW S1 + 2 dubbed entirely once. Will give the rest of the 502nd a listen too when more comes out I guess.
